1. We Protect Holy City History
Bulldog impacts the local architectural and historic value through its involvement in the preservation of key historic sites. In fact, in 2016, 18 Anson Street, which is the Bulldog Tours office, was awarded a Carolopolis Award from the Preservation Society of Charleston. This award was given to the owner of Bulldog Tours to recognize the outstanding achievement in exterior preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the building. And, over the last 15 years, Bulldog Tours has raised over over $4.8 million for the restoration and preservation of the Old City Jail, Circular Church’s graveyard, Magnolia Cemetery, the USS Yorktown, and the Old Exchange. A portion of tour ticket proceeds benefit these efforts. These landmarks and historic sites are key parts of Charleston’s charm and visitor appeal and thanks to Bulldog’s help, these sites can remain attractions and places of interest for tourists.

3. We Love Our Locals
As our way of saying “Thank You, Charleston!” we offer Free Locals Night annually. Plus, residents of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties always get $3 off tour admission.
4. We Have a Tour for Everything
From ghosts to history and from pubs to kitchens, our daily/nightly tours offer something for everyone. Our daily/nightly tours feature Charleston’s history, food and ghosts. Our ghost tours were voted “Best Ghost Tours in the Country” by USA Today and have exclusive access into Charleston’s Old City Jail, Provost Dungeon, the Powder Magazine and Charleston’s oldest graveyard. Our history tour is the longest running daily tour in town; we’ve been walking visitors around since 1979. The food tours are the perfect way to walk, talk and eat your way through Charleston. Plus, go behind the scenes of some of Charleston’s top restaurants, meeting the most talented chefs in the business and touring their kitchens. During the Haunted Pub Tour, hear our favorite ghost stories while enjoying libations at some of the city’s finest bars and taverns. Did we mention our tours have been featured in Southern Living, USA Today, The New York Times, Travel Channel, Ghost Hunters, Bon Appétit and Ghost Adventures?
5. We Give Back
While the world quarantined in 2020 and physical walking tours were stalled, Bulldog Tours offered free virtual tours daily to give the world something fun and interesting from Charleston. As a result, Free Tour Fridays were launched in 2021. A year's worth of tours are still viewable on Facebook and monthly live virtual tours are ongoing.
6. We KNOW Charleston
Collectively, Bulldog Tours has more than 900 years of tour guide experience. Some of our tour guides have been giving tours since 1975. Plus, our team members are actively engaged in our local hospitality and tourism community, growing our knowledge of the city and promoting it as a top tourist destination.
7. We Love Our Troops
Bulldog Tours is a strong supporter of our military men and women. We regularly donate boxes of goodies to the troops. We have military appreciation nights several times a year and offer a regular discount on tours for military members. In fact, our owner was an honorary commander at the Charleston Air Force Base’s 315th Airlift Wing. We have also partnered with Operation R & R to provide family fun for troops while they are at home.
8. Our Tours Aren’t Just Factual … They’re entertaining and they are guaranteed
All our tour guides are licensed by the City of Charleston and are the highest caliber of storytellers. Many of our tour guides have been with us since the day we opened our doors in 2001. And as of 2021 Bulldog Tours offers our Great Tour Guarantee. Your experience on our tour will be a great one or we will make it right.
9. We are Green
Bulldog Tours doesn’t use paper tickets and our tours are powered by nothing more than…feet! Guests check in electronically for their tours. Since 2001, the majority of our tour guides at Bulldog Tours have walked more than 700 miles annually, giving tours to more than 1,000,000 guests. The Bulldog Tours office also recycles the water bottles they sell with the Charleston County Recycling Center. We might leave a footprint, but it’s not a carbon footprint!
