Tour Overview
Shem Creek, the bustling restaurant hub of Mt. Pleasant, just across the harbor from Charleston is definitely one of the charms of the Lowcountry. Aligned by a brand new boardwalk and panoramic views of the creek and harbor, Shem Creek offers one of the best places to get a glimpse of a working waterfront of shrimp boats and commercial fishing. This tour highlights the history of Shem Creek and old Mt Pleasant. Guests will visit three creekside restaurants to enjoy a curated cocktail at each stop paired with a taste of Lowcountry cuisine, closely tied to the surrounding saltwater.
One-of-a-kind Experience
Even though Shem Creek has been a Charleston area “must see” for decades, Bulldog Tours is the only tour company to offer a culinary history tour of this scenic destination.
Eat Like a Local
It doesn’t get much more local than this experience. The shrimp served on this tour was likely unloaded from a boat docked a block from the restaurant. The menu for this tour includes seafood at each stop.
Make a memory
Creek and marsh wildlife sightings are one of the things that makes this place so special. Guests are encouraged to take pictures, and if you want, bring a lock to leave on the boardwalk railing.

In contrast to other tours in town, we keep our food tours to 12 guests or less. This means a more relaxed and casual experience, with more access to your guide and our friendly vendors.

Yes, alcoholic beverages are included in select “Savor” tours such as this one. Complimentary water is included at most stops.
-
What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?
We do our best to accommodate the special dietary needs of our guests, however we can't guarantee all stops will be able to do so. When you book a food tour, let us know about any dietary needs/preferences (eg. allergies, vegetarian, kosher, gluten-free) and your guide will help identify items you might want to avoid.
-
How much food is served on the tour?
Our food tastings and portions are generous and roughly equal to a good-sized lunch. We recommend coming to the tour with an appetite as most guests leave comfortably full.
